I recently became involved with a great charity the Refugee Community Kitchen.

Having seen tens of thousands of people forced to leave their homes and living in awful conditions in northern France, RCK came together to offer the assistance of nourishing meals and access to fresh food daily. The aim is to feed where food is needed, to build where they can build and to give support to the volunteers on the ground. Their wonderful volunteers currently provide hot nourishing food on a daily basis to over 3000 men, women and children.

Provisions are also needed so Debbie Bliss Home and other shops in the area are a drop off point for food, toiletries and cash.

Also locally in East London money has been raised to buy caravans to house those refugees with no families. As these are now being decorated a group of us decided to get together and knit blankets to furnish them and provide warmth and comfort.

We put a plea out for knitted squares.

Then we headed to our local pub to start the sewing up process…

Bear has strong ideas about the colour order the squares should go in!

Also last week, I made a trip to Hogwarts!
Well, I was delighted to have been asked by my brilliant local MP Stella Creasey to join her and a group of women for drinks on the terrace at the Houses of Parliament.

Grandly Gothic inside with a great view of London outside.

What a fantastically eclectic group of women from all walks of life, from my dear friend Bernice Anderson, an anti trafficking advocate from the Medaille Trust, local councillors and also members of the indie band Savages.
It was a memorable evening.
